Commercial relationships and what is disclosed

There is nothing to declare

This page exists to say that plainly rather than to leave you to infer it.

As at 3 August 2026, this site has:

• No affiliate links. No link on this site earns the author a commission, a referral fee or a credit if you click it or buy something at the other end of it.
• No sponsored content. No page, section or mention has been paid for. No supplier, platform or hosting company has paid, offered goods, or offered services in exchange for coverage.
• No paid placement in comparisons. Where two platforms or two approaches are compared, the ordering and the conclusion are the author’s judgement. Nobody bought a position.
• No referral arrangements. Enquiries made through this site are not passed to any other business. The site captures its own enquiries and they reach the author.
• No advertising. There are no ad slots, ad networks or tracking pixels sold to third parties.

Why the page stays when there is nothing on it

A disclosure page that only appears once there is something awkward to admit is a page that tells you something by its absence. Publishing the empty version now means the page has a history, and that history is checkable against this site’s own version control.

It also means the machinery is already in place. The components that render a disclosure, the build check that verifies one exists wherever it is required, and the schema field that records a page’s commercial relationship are all still wired up and still running. They currently find nothing to act on. That is the intended state, not an oversight.

What would change it, and what you would see

If the site ever carries an affiliate link, a sponsored section or a paid placement, three things happen together, and none of them is optional:

1. This page is updated to describe the arrangement, who it is with, and how the author is paid.
2. A disclosure appears beside the thing it applies to, above it rather than below it, so it is read before the link is clicked rather than after.
3. The page’s own record states the relationship, and the build refuses to publish it if the disclosure is missing.

The order matters. A disclosure that appears after the decision has been made is a formality; one that appears before it is information.

What this page is not

It is not a claim to be impartial about everything. The author is a practising web developer with opinions formed by doing the work, and those opinions run through the whole site. Where a page recommends an approach, it is one practitioner’s reasoning, exposed so that you can disagree with it.

The absence of a commercial interest removes one reason to distrust a recommendation. It does not remove the others, and no page here should be read as neutral simply because nobody was paid.

If something on this site reads as though it were sponsored, or if a commercial relationship exists that is not described here, that is a defect worth reporting. Corrections are made on the page itself with the change dated, and the original text is retained rather than replaced.
