Editorial standards and who stands behind this site
Who writes this site, how the writing is produced, what it claims and what it does not, and how mistakes are corrected — the editorial policy.
In short. This site is written and published by Australian Website Design as an organisation, not under a personal byline. The claim to be trusted rests on a published method, dated and sourced figures, and a correction record you can check — not on a named expert's photograph. Where a real person reviews a page, that person is named on the page and nowhere else.
This page sets out who produces the writing on this site, how it is produced, what is claimed and what is deliberately not, and what happens when something here turns out to be wrong. It exists because a site that spends its pages telling readers to check who is behind a supplier has taken on the same obligation itself.
Who writes this
The author of this site is Australian Website Design, the organisation, and the structured data on every page says exactly that and nothing more. There is no personal byline, no author photograph and no biography claiming a degree or a number of years in the industry.
That is a deliberate choice rather than an omission. A named author is a strong trust signal only when the claim behind the name can be checked — the same face, occupation and qualification appearing on a professional profile, a former employer, a public register. A name attached to nothing checkable is decoration, and a fabricated persona is worse than decoration: it is the exact kind of unverifiable claim this site argues against elsewhere. So the trust here is asked for on different terms. It rests on the method, the sources and the correction record set out below, all of which a reader can inspect without taking anyone’s word for it.
Where a specific page has been reviewed by a real, named person with relevant standing, that person is named on that page, in its provenance footer, and the same detail is not claimed anywhere it is not true.
How the writing is produced
Every page is built from the same discipline, which is described in full on how this site measures things and what the dataset does and does not cover:
- The method is written before the findings. For anything measured, the question and the method are published and dated first, and the result is added afterward to a page that already exists. A method written after the result is known is a description of the result.
- Every figure carries its source, its sample and its date. Demand figures state the tool, the location and the date they were pulled. Pricing bands state how many delivered projects they are drawn from, their scope and their GST treatment. The condition attached to a figure travels with the figure, so citing it fairly is possible.
- Legal and regulatory material is a reading of published instruments, with the instrument linked, not a summary of a summary. Where the position depends on circumstances, the page says so and points the reader to the regulator or to advice, rather than answering it for them.
What is claimed, and what is not
The structured data on this site contains no credential, award or “years of experience” field, because none has been evidenced to the build. An unevidenced machine-readable claim carries the same exposure under the Australian Consumer Law’s prohibition on misleading conduct as an unevidenced sentence, with the aggravating factor that it was made deliberately in code. The rule the site holds itself to is simple: a claim goes in only when the evidence for it exists, and not before.
There is, correspondingly, no fabricated social proof anywhere on this site — no invented testimonials, no manufactured review counts, no client logos for work that did not happen, and no statistics without a traceable source. The absence of these is itself a signal, and it is meant to be read as one.
Corrections
If something on this site is wrong, that is a defect worth reporting, and it is fixed on the page itself with the change dated and the original text retained rather than quietly replaced. The version history of every page lives in the site’s own repository, so a correction leaves a trace that cannot be edited away after the fact. Corrections and commercial questions are handled through contact, and the site’s commercial position — which is that there is nothing to disclose — is on commercial relationships.
Why this matters for what you read
None of this makes the writing here correct. It makes it checkable, which is a different and more useful property. The appropriate response to any figure or claim on this site is to check it against a source with no stake in the answer, and the site is built — dated, sourced, versioned — specifically so that you can.
