Terms of use for this site

Terms of use for this Australian website design research site: what the information here is and isn't, and the guarantees that apply regardless.

In short. The information here is general, is not a quote and is not legal or accounting advice. Figures are indicative bands drawn from past work, not offers. Nothing on this page limits the consumer guarantees that apply under Australian Consumer Law, because nothing on any page can.

What this site is

A published reference about what website work costs in Australia, from Australian Website Design.

What the information is not

It is not a quote. Any figure published here is an indicative band drawn from past delivered work, stated with its sample size, date and scope. It is not an offer, it is not capable of acceptance, and no supplier is bound by it, including the author.

It is not legal advice. Where this site discusses ownership of a website, consumer guarantees, privacy obligations or accessibility obligations, it describes them in general terms so that you know what to ask about. Your circumstances are not general. Ask a lawyer.

It is not accounting or tax advice. Where this site discusses GST, including input tax credits and GST on goods sold through an online store, it is describing the shape of the question, not answering it for you. Ask your accountant.

The limits of the figures

Figures published here are subject to the rules set out in the pricing dataset. In summary: each band is drawn from at least ten delivered projects, is dated, states its scope, states its GST treatment, and is indicative only.

Bands drawn from fewer projects are excluded rather than published, and the exclusions are listed rather than applied silently.

Where figures are withheld entirely, that state is shown on the page. An empty figure on this site means a decision, not an oversight.

Consumer guarantees

Nothing on this page, and nothing anywhere else on this site, excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy that applies under the Australian Consumer Law and cannot lawfully be excluded.

That sentence is here because it is true and because most cost pages in this market are silent on the subject entirely. If a supplier’s terms appear to remove your consumer guarantees, that is worth asking about before you sign.

Accuracy and change

Every figure is dated. Every page states when it was published and when it was last updated. Datasets change, and the pricing dataset in particular is versioned, with every change recorded in changes to the pricing dataset.

Information that was accurate on its measurement date may not be accurate now. That is why the date is shown rather than implied.

The text, structure and code of this site are the author’s. You are welcome to quote from it with attribution and a link. You are welcome to cite the figures, and the site is built so that the conditions attached to a figure travel with it precisely so that citing it fairly is possible.

Governing law

The laws of Australia apply.
